There are several famous water towns in Shanghai neighborhood areas and here under we would like to give some brief introduction of them.
Zhu Jiajiao: It locates at the Qingpu district of Shanghai and it is the nearest water town in Shanghai suburban area. Generally speaking, half day will be enough to visit it and there is no entry fees for entering into the Zhu Jiajiao water town. However, if you want to visit the scenery spots in the water town, there will be extra entrance fees occurs.
Tongli: The Tongli Water Town situated at Wujiang district of Suzhou. It is about 18 kilo meters away from Suzhou downtown area and 80 kilo meters away from Shanghai. This water town keeps the simple ancientry and it is very peace and leisurely. The Pearl Tower and the Reatreat and Reflection Garden in it are very deserve to see.
Zhouzhuang: This water town is about 52 kilo meters away from Suzhou and 65 kilo meters away from Shanghai. In the year 1984, one painting from the famous painter Yifei Chen makes the world knows Zhouzhuang. It was honored as “the first water town of China”. Here, more than 100 ancient buildings of the Ming and Qing dynasties were built beside the rivers and there are 14 bridges connected the streets. The night scene of Zhouzhuang is quite beautiful.
Wuzhen: Locates at Jiaxing city of Zhejiang province, Wuzhen has a long history of more than 1300 years. You could find the typical bridges, rivers and elegant ancient residences here and there. If you want to explore Wuzhen entirely, a whole day will be needed.
